In a recent interview, Damian Priest discussed an incident that occurred during his WWE World Heavyweight Title defense against Seth Rollins at the WWE Money in the Bank 2024 Premium Live Event.
The match had a stipulation: if Priest won, Rollins would be barred from challenging for the title as long as Priest held it. Conversely, if Rollins won, Priest would have to leave The Judgment Day.
Towards the end of the match, Rollins executed a falcon arrow, but the referee stopped counting at two despite Priest not kicking out. Drew McIntyre then appeared with the Money in the Bank briefcase to cash it in, turning the match into a triple threat. Ultimately, Priest retained the title.
In an interview with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Priest addressed the situation. He clarified, “The idea that I forgot to kick out is not true. After twenty years, muscle memory takes over. There was no forgetting. There was an unexpected situation, but everything is fine. The storyline continues unaffected. The fans remain engaged, and those who needed to understand did so without issue. We moved on.”
Priest is set to defend his World Title against GUNTHER next Saturday at SummerSlam.
