WrestleMania 41 John Cena def. Cody Rhodes - 17th world championship

Las Vegas, NV – April 21, 2025 – The bright lights of Allegiant Stadium have dimmed, but the echoes of a truly unforgettable WrestleMania 41 continue to reverberate throughout the WWE Universe. Over two nights of high-octane action, the landscape of WWE has been irrevocably altered, with new champions crowned, alliances shattered, and shocking betrayals that have left fans reeling.

WrestleMania 41: Night 1 – Minute-by-Minute Breakdown of the Explosive Action!

World Heavyweight Championship: Jey Uso DEF. Gunther (c) via Submission

The opening contest of WrestleMania 41 Night 1 set the tone for a night of surprises and emotional highs. Jey Uso, the “Main Event” himself, entered the Allegiant Stadium to a thunderous ovation, the “YEET!” chants echoing through the arena. Gunther, the dominant and long-reigning World Heavyweight Champion, exuded his usual aura of cold, calculated intensity. The match was a physical war of attrition, with Gunther utilizing his brutal chops and power slams to wear down Uso. However, Uso’s resilience and never-say-die attitude kept him in the fight. The turning point came after a series of near falls for both men. Uso, showing a new level of grit, locked in a tight rear-naked choke, and despite Gunther’s desperate attempts to break free, the champion was forced to tap out. The arena erupted as the referee signaled the end, and Jey Uso stood victorious, finally capturing his first major singles championship. The emotional celebration that followed, with Uso soaking in the cheers and pointing to the sky, was a truly memorable WrestleMania moment. The question now is, how will Gunther react to this devastating loss, and who will step up to challenge the new champion?

World Tag Team Championship: The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) DEF. The War Raiders (c) (Erik & Ivar)

The battle for the World Tag Team Championship was a clash of styles and experience. The War Raiders, with their raw power and intimidating presence, looked set to continue their reign. However, the veteran duo of The New Day, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, proved that experience and ring IQ can often trump brute force. The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams showcasing innovative offense. The controversial finish saw Kofi Kingston subtly hold Ivar’s foot from under the ring apron, preventing him from breaking up a pinfall attempt by Woods on Erik. The referee, seemingly missing the infraction, counted the three, and The New Day once again became tag team champions. While the crowd celebrated the return of the titles to the popular duo, the replay sparked immediate debate and is sure to fuel a heated rematch with The War Raiders, who were visibly incensed by the questionable tactics.

Jade Cargill DEC. Naomi

In a highly anticipated singles contest, the undefeated powerhouse Jade Cargill looked to continue her dominant run against the athletic and resilient Naomi. Cargill’s imposing presence and incredible strength were on full display, but Naomi’s speed and agility allowed her to mount several impressive offensive bursts. However, in the end, Cargill’s overwhelming power proved to be too much. After absorbing Naomi’s best shots, Cargill delivered a devastating combination of the Jackhammer and her signature Jaded (Glam Slam), securing a decisive pinfall victory. Cargill’s continued dominance at WrestleMania further solidifies her status as a major force in the women’s division. The question remains, who will be the one to finally break her undefeated streak?

WWE United States Championship: Jacob Fatu DEF. LA Knight (c)

The United States Championship match was a hard-hitting affair between the charismatic champion LA Knight and the imposing Jacob Fatu. Fatu, with his Samoan Dynasty heritage, brought a level of physicality that Knight struggled to consistently counter. The match saw Fatu relentlessly target Knight’s midsection, which had been a point of concern in recent weeks. Despite Knight’s fiery comebacks and signature offense, Fatu’s power and calculated strategy ultimately prevailed. After a series of impactful moves, Fatu sealed the victory with not one, but two incredible moonsaults, showcasing surprising agility for his size. The loss marks the end of LA Knight’s United States Championship reign, and the emergence of Jacob Fatu as champion adds a new layer of intensity to the mid-card scene.

El Grande Americano DEF. Rey Fenix

In a late addition to the card, the mysterious El Grande Americano made his WrestleMania debut, stepping in for the injured Rey Mysterio to face the high-flying Rey Fenix. The match was a contrast in styles, with Fenix’s incredible aerial maneuvers matched by El Grande Americano’s unorthodox and, as it turned out, potentially illegal tactics. Throughout the match, El Grande Americano maintained a stoic and enigmatic presence, his face concealed by his mask. The finish came when El Grande Americano seemingly produced a small, hard object from within his mask and delivered a diving headbutt to Fenix, securing a controversial victory. Replays were inconclusive, but the suspicion of foul play hung heavy in the air. This mysterious newcomer has certainly made a memorable, albeit questionable, first impression on the grandest stage of them all.

WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) DEF. Charlotte Flair

The WWE Women’s Championship match was a captivating encounter between the confident and athletic champion Tiffany Stratton and the decorated veteran Charlotte Flair. Stratton, eager to prove herself on the biggest stage, showcased her impressive agility and innovative offense, while Flair relied on her experience and signature submission holds. The match saw several near falls, with both women demonstrating incredible resilience. Stratton absorbed Flair’s Figure Eight Leg Lock and Natural Selection, while Flair kicked out of Stratton’s Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Ultimately, Stratton found an opening, hitting a rolling senton followed by a second, perfectly executed Prettiest Moonsault Ever to retain her championship in what many are calling a breakout performance. This victory solidifies Stratton’s position as a top star in the women’s division.

Main Event – Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Seth Rollins DEF. Roman Reigns and CM Punk

The main event of Night 1 was a chaotic and unforgettable affair that sent shockwaves through the WWE Universe. The tension was palpable as Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns, accompanied by Paul Heyman, stepped into the ring alongside the returning icon CM Punk and the fiery challenger Seth Rollins. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with all three men delivering impactful offense and showcasing their distinct styles. The turning point, and the moment that will be replayed and debated for years to come, involved Paul Heyman. First, he offered a steel chair to CM Punk, seemingly aligning with him against Reigns. However, in a shocking double-cross, Heyman then low-blowed Punk, allowing Reigns to deliver a brutal chair shot. But the betrayal wasn’t over. In an even more stunning twist, Heyman then turned on Reigns, delivering a low blow to the champion and sliding the chair to Rollins, who seized the opportunity and hit the Stomp on Reigns for the pinfall victory. Seth Rollins now stands as the new Undisputed WWE Champion, aligned with Paul Heyman. The aftermath left the WWE Universe in disbelief, with the futures of Roman Reigns and CM Punk hanging in the balance. What motivated Heyman’s actions? What will be the fallout of this monumental betrayal? Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 concluded with more questions than answers.

The action was fast-paced and relentless, with all three women showcasing their unique strengths. Belair’s incredible power, Ripley’s brutal intensity, and Sky’s innovative aerial offense kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. The finish was a stroke of brilliance and opportunism from Sky. As Ripley had Belair set up for the Riptide, Sky soared through the air with an Over the Moonsault, breaking up the move and landing directly on Belair for the pinfall victory. Sky’s ability to capitalize on the moment secured her title reign in a match that will undoubtedly be considered a WrestleMania classic.

Sin City Street Fight: Drew McIntyre DEF. Damian Priest

The Sin City Street Fight between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest lived up to its violent billing. From the opening bell, both men unleashed a barrage of offense, utilizing a variety of weapons including steel chairs, kendo sticks, and even a trash can. The animosity between McIntyre and Priest was palpable, and the match was a brutal and personal affair. After a series of near falls and punishing blows, the end came when McIntyre delivered a thunderous Claymore Kick to Priest, who had a steel chair positioned behind his head for added impact. McIntyre’s victory in this chaotic encounter likely signals the end of this chapter in their rivalry, but the physicality of the match suggests the scars will remain.

Champion Bron Breakker brought his explosive power, Finn Bálor his calculated precision, and Penta his high-flying artistry to the contest. Dominik Mysterio, often relying on the support of his Judgment Day stablemates, found himself in a chaotic environment. The shocking finish came when Dominik, seemingly by chance, found himself in position to pin his own Judgment Day partner, Finn Bálor, after Bálor had been taken out by a move from another competitor. Dominik seized the opportunity, much to the surprise of everyone, including Bálor himself. This unexpected victory throws the dynamics of the Judgment Day into question and marks a significant, albeit controversial, moment in Dominik Mysterio’s career.

Randy Orton DEF. Joe Hendry

Following an open challenge issued earlier in the night, Randy Orton stepped into the ring to face TNA’s Joe Hendry. Hendry, making his WrestleMania debut, was met with a thunderous RKO almost immediately after the bell rang, resulting in a swift victory for “The Viper.” However, in a surprising display of sportsmanship, Orton initially raised Hendry’s arm in a sign of respect. Orton’s actions were perplexing, leaving fans to speculate about his motivations and the message he was trying to send.

Logan Paul DEF. AJ Styles

The match between social media sensation Logan Paul and the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles was a captivating clash of generations and styles. Paul, continuing to impress in his wrestling career, showcased his athleticism and surprising in-ring prowess. Styles, the seasoned veteran, relied on his technical expertise and years of experience. The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both men hitting their signature moves and creating several near falls. Ultimately, Paul managed to secure the victory, much to the chagrin of a portion of the WWE Universe who still view him as an outsider.
